The Libyan Screenplay in Ukraine.
At least 25 people have died in fresh clashes between Ukrainian police and anti-government protesters, according to reports, raising the death toll from the ongoing violence to over 50. This was what they did with Libya and we all saw what happened. NATO went from accusing Gaddafi of killing 2000, which was later scaled down to 200, to themselves killing over 100,000. Amazing indeed.
The clashes broke out on Thursday when armed protesters stormed police barricades in the capital Kiev. President Yanukovich was very very patient. Anti-government protesters have seized back control of Kiev’s Independence Square, where thousands of demonstrators remain camped out.
If the reports were confirmed, the latest deaths would bring the death toll to more than 50 people since the beginning of the week, when the clashes erupted after the deadline set by security authorities to end the protests expired.
The latest deadly clashes come despite a truce between President Viktor Yanukovych and the main opposition leaders.
Yanukovych announced a truce with the opposition just before midnight on Wednesday in a bid to end turmoil in the country.
Meanwhile, foreign ministers from France, Germany and Poland have been holding crisis talks in the Ukrainian capital.
European officials say they are considering targeted sanctions against the Ukrainian government over the deadly crackdown.
The United States has issued visa restrictions on about 20 senior Ukrainian officials « complicit in or responsible for ordering or otherwise directing human rights abuses. »
Russia, on the other hand, has called on Ukrainian opposition groups to halt the bloodshed and continue to seek a peaceful solution to the crisis.
Ukraine has been rocked by anti-government protests since Yanukovych refrained from signing an Association Agreement with the European Union on November 29, 2013, in favor of closer ties with Russia.
